Entry requirements overview
ARCSP is the entry grade for practitioners working in concrete scanning or associated non destructive testing who are operating under supervision or within a limited scope of responsibility.
Applicants must be actively involved in site based scanning or inspection work and able to evidence practical exposure rather than academic knowledge alone.
Minimum entry requirements
Minimum 12 months involvement in concrete scanning or concrete related NDT activities
Evidence of participation in live site work under supervision or as part of a scanning team
Demonstrable familiarity with at least one recognised scanning or testing method such as GPR, cover meters, ultrasonic testing, or rebound hammer testing
Basic understanding of safe equipment setup, data capture, and standardised reporting formats
Evidence based assessment
ARCSP applications are assessed on submitted evidence. This may include anonymised reports, site records, employer confirmation, and training records where available.
Formal qualifications are not mandatory at this level, but any relevant training or manufacturer instruction should be declared.
Typical approval timescale
Up to 21 days from submission of a complete application.
Progression
ARCSP is designed as a foundation grade. Holders are expected to build experience and responsibility toward application for MRCSP.
ARCSP™ Associate
Registration requires a contribution of £150 plus VAT to the UKCSS register, with an annual renewal fee of £60 plus VAT. Renewal is subject to continued compliance with the conditions of the register.
Entry requirements overview
MRCSP recognises practitioners operating independently who are responsible for the interpretation, reporting, and communication of scanning results across multiple technologies.
This grade confirms that the registrant can work without supervision within an agreed scope and understands the limitations and risks associated with concrete scanning.
Minimum entry requirements
Minimum 3 years active involvement in concrete scanning or equivalent NDT practice
Evidence of independent project delivery and interpretation responsibility
Demonstrable experience across more than one scanning or testing method
Submission of a structured portfolio of work demonstrating repeatable competence
Evidence of client or employer reliance on the applicant’s technical judgement
Assessment approach
MRCSP applications are subject to detailed portfolio review. Peer or assessor evaluation is required.
Applicants may be asked to clarify methodology, limitations, or interpretation decisions as part of the review process.
Typical approval timescale
Up to 30 days from submission of a complete portfolio.

Registration requires a contribution of £250 plus VAT to the UKCSS register, with an annual renewal fee of £90 plus VAT. Renewal is subject to continued compliance with the conditions of the register.
Entry requirements overview
SMRCSP is intended for advanced practitioners operating on complex structures, constrained sites, or high risk scanning scopes, and who provide technical leadership within their organisation or sector.
This grade reflects depth of experience, judgement under uncertainty, and contribution to raising standards in practice.
Minimum entry requirements
Minimum 7 years professional experience in concrete scanning or advanced NDT
Demonstrated capability across complex geometries, heavily reinforced structures, or challenging site conditions
Evidence of leading or overseeing scanning programmes or teams
Contribution to mentoring, training, or technical development of others
Submission of advanced case studies demonstrating problem solving and decision making
Assessment approach
Senior Member applications are subject to enhanced review. This may include peer assessment and additional technical questioning.
